Axiom Musical Instruments was established in 2012 by David Hines, a music products industry veteran with over 40 years experience in the Australian music products industry.

 

Choosing your first musical instrument can be a confusing business. The Australian market has, in recent times, been flooded with cheap, unplayable instruments being sold through mass merchants, ebay stores and even grocery stores! At Axiom we felt that there was a need for an online music store selling affordable musical instruments which were of superior quality and playability. We have spent a lot of time sourcing thre best factories to work with and the result is a range of excellent quality and well priced student instruments, far superior to most of the instruments being sold elsewhere.​

 
 
When you invest in an Axiom instrument you are buying from a well established specialist Australian business with over 40 years experience in the music products industry. Plus, you are buying direct from the importer without any wholesale and retail markups. We only sell via our online music store, so we have no expensive rents or staff costs. That's why our instruments are up to half the price of equivalent quality instruments in retail stores. 
 
We are an Australian business and all our products ship from our Sydney warehouse. Be wary of some online sellers who claim to be locally based but are actually based in China or Hong Kong and ship all items from overseas.

ABOUT THE OWNER

David began his musical journey at age 5 when he started sudying the violin. He became passionate about the instrument achieving AMEB Grade 7 in 1978, the highest grade then possible. David still plays today and regularly performs with a number of string groups and orchestras. In his teens David taught himself piano, guitar and drums and was a member of several bands playing on the Sydney pub circuit. He recorded a number of singles and performed at hundreds of venues around town. 

Professionally David commenced work in a Sydney music store in 1980. working his way up to be the musical instruments manager at the Palings company in the early 80s. He then moved into the wholesale side of things, working for one of the largest importers and wholesalers in the industry. In the mid eighties he moved to NZ where he set up and ran a very successful musical instrument company for ten years. After returning to Australia David opened a large music store which operated for close to 20 years. In 1994 David set up AXIOM MUSIC in order to offer a range of quality, budget priced instruments to the Australian market.
